Residential Services
Alternative Care Service
A network of home resources throughout the District, as well as within the City of Thunder Bay provide alternative care and treatment alternative care. Foster homes provide a nurturing and supportive environment for children in need of alternative care outside of their family. Treatment foster homes provide a more structured and therapeutic environment for children experiencing significant difficulties in their lives.
Become an Alternative Care Provide
When a child has been placed in the care of Dilico, alternative care families (also referred to as foster parents) in Thunder Bay and the district provide temporary homes for the child until they return to their family, or a permanent plan is made. Children are of varying needs and ages. Dilico provides ongoing support services for foster families.
Permanent Care Service

The staff assists and guides these children towards an independent and healthy lifestyle. Adoption services are also provided, and include consent, disclosure, home studies, placement and support.
